Backing Up and Restoring Websites

1. Creating Backups in cPanel:

Backups ensure that you can restore your website in case of errors or data loss.

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Navigate to the Backup or Backup Wizard under the Files section.
  3. Click Download a Full Account Backup to back up your entire cPanel account.
  4. (Optional) For specific parts, you can back up:
    • Home directory files.
    • MySQL databases.
    • Email forwarders and filters.
  5. Save the backup file to your local computer for safekeeping.

2. Restoring Websites in cPanel:

To restore your website from a backup:

  1. Go to the Backup section in cPanel.
  2. Under Restore a Home Directory Backup, upload the previously downloaded backup file.
  3. To restore databases:
    • Go to Backup Wizard, and under Restore, upload the backup file for the database.
  4. Wait for the process to complete. Your website will be restored to its previous state.
